History of Fort Dobbs
Fort Dobbs is located in Statesville, North Carolina. It was built to be a deffense base in 1756 during the French and Indian war. The large fort was protection for the frointer settlers. During the French and Indian War was it constructed by provincial rangers under command of Hugh Waddle and named for Arthur Dobbs. England and France had been enemies for centuries before either claimed parts of the new world.  The fort was attacked by Cherokee Indian during the war.  Many Cherokee died, but the settlers did not.

​Fort Dobbs will host a program delicated to teaching kids about life on the Carolina frointer in the 1750's and it cost 6 dollars per kid. During Fort Dobbs biggest event you will be able to join the soldiers, settlers and American Indians who inhabited the North Carolina's frointer. Learn about their struggles and life at Fort Dobbs.

Ford Dobbs is not open on holidays, Sundays or Mondays.
