  • People spend up to two hours at Reed gold mine. Reed gold mine was the first documented gold mine in the United States the estimated value of all gold recovered reached over one million dollars a year. North Carolina led the nation in gold production until 1848.
  • John Reed found a 1b pound yellow rock in a little medow creek on the family farm.
